The power of pain
By Moabi Pitsi
Psalm 34:18 confirms "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit".
For many of us living in today's difficult moments, we often find ourselves between the rock and a hard place. The rock is a difficult place for a human soul to be at. The hard place is a good as the rock. So, either way, life is just a continuum of hard things we all have to pull through.
The Lord is near - everything that happens to us, assist us to know and understand God better. However, in difficult moments, the bible confirms that God is truly near us. Some of us focus so much on our difficulties and miss an opportunity to see God through our pain. "Is" also means present tense. So get it - God is near us all in difficult moments.
The brokenhearted - so often we experience so many painful emotions whether we are male or female, young or old, rich or poor. All things good and bad can break your heart. However, often, its the bad stuff the really drains the best in us. But the road is never easy. Stay grounded in the Lord. Believe in His goodness.
God saves - God is always on the side of human beings. This is what I truly believe. God's job is to make sure that we are saved. We receive His spirit. We live according to His word. We accept Him as our Lord. Once all these things are done, they activate the "God save" app for our lives to run as God wants to.
The crushed in spirit - I was once involved in a very life-threatening car crash. Most car crashes are like that - life threatening. Everything collapses and you are never sure when the crash is happening if you are going to make it alive. The best one can do at this confusing moment, is to call on the Lord who saves us. It is the only way we can survive to continue to live amid the crush. One thing we must never do though when we are in a crash, is to cause more crashes to others.
Congregants, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers who are crash and continue to make life crashes in the lives of others are doing the world and the future no good. Only God can help the crushed spirit. Only Him knows better how to heal.
There is immeasurable power in the pain than we go through. It might be pain-FUL but it is also a moment to be God-FILLED. Pain gives us an opportunity to hear the Lord. It also activates God to get closer to us. There is power in pain.
